Escape Work, Embrace the Outdoors: Great Northern Fires Up In Sydney's Botanic Gardens for The Great Northern Light Lunch

On Thursday 23rd October 2025, Sydneysiders are invited to step away from work and into the outdoors to join Great Northern Brewing Co. for a light lunch celebrating the release of Great Northern Light.
At just 2% ABV and half a standard drink per 330 ml serve, this new release is Great Northern’s first-ever light beer - brewed for those who want the taste of a Great Northern with less alcohol. While beer is already an alcoholic beverage suited to moderation, Great Northern Light will create more occasions to share a beer with mates.
Kicking off from 1pm, the Bennelong Lawn in Sydney’s Royal Botanic Gardens will be transformed into a camp-inspired space in the shadow of the Sydney Opera House. All attendees will be treated to a stubby of Great Northern Light. Pre-registration for this free 18+ event is required via the Eventbrite link at @greatnorthern_aus.
The flavours of Great Northern Light will be complemented by the woodfired BBQ, serving Aussie classics perfectly suited to the great outdoors. These will be washed down with a free stubby of Great Northern Light, with the menu designed to match the crisp profile, fruity aroma and balanced malt-bitter finish Aussies have come to love.
“This isn’t just lunch - it’s an open-air barbecue with fire-driven flavours best enjoyed outdoors, just like Great Northern,” said Zac Gelman, Marketing Manager, Great Northern Brewing Co. “We encourage Aussie beer lovers who were already thinking about enjoying a beer with lunch that day to register for this event, try some Great Northern Light and raise a glass to responsible consumption and moderation.”
Event Details: • One Day Only: Thursday 23rd October 2025 • Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney (Bennelong Lawn) • From 1pm until ‘sold out’ (pre-registration required) • Non-alcohol products will also be served at the event
Great Northern Light is now available nationally in major liquor retailers. Brewed to just 2.0% ABV and served in bottles, it’s the perfect choice for when the sun is high in the sky but there’s still more of the day to come — a refreshing, low-alcohol option made for moderation and great moments.
