Back by overwhelming demand: Asahi Super Dry Nama Jokki returns, offering a premium draught beer experience, anywhere.

After selling out nationwide in record time last year, Asahi Super Dry Nama Jokki – the self-foaming beer can that delivers a draught beer experience, anywhere – is back in New Zealand, this time to stay.
Already a phenomenon in Japan, Nama Jokki, which translates to “fresh beer mug”, gives Kiwi beer drinkers a premium, tap-quality Asahi Super Dry straight from a can.
The innovation proved a runaway hit in 2024, with stock selling faster than any previous Asahi Super Dry launch, with retail trade ordering all of the ~32,000 6pks in under 2 months.
“Nama Jokki isn’t like anything else in the New Zealand market, this is true innovation, that provides beer drinkers a genuinely unique experience” says Jono Mar, Marketing Manager at Asahi Beverages NZ.
“When the can lid is ripped off, a silky foam similar to tap beer forms perfectly to lock in the freshness and taste, and suddenly you’re drinking a draught-quality Asahi Super Dry. Last year’s sell-out showed just how much Kiwi beer lovers enjoy this kind of taste experience.”
This year we’ve updated packaging for the Kiwi market, while still retaining the authentic Asahi Super Dry brewed in Japan. Each 340ml can has a precision-engineered uneven surface that activates natural bubbles when opened at the ideal temperature between four and eight degrees. The fully removable lid creates a smooth edge so drinkers can sip straight from the can.
“The convenience that Nama Jokki offers, can turn an everyday beer moment into a truly shareable premium beer experience.”
To get the best experience: chill in the fridge to between 4–8°C, gently pull off the lid towards you, and watch the foam rise before sipping straight from the can. If it doesn’t foam immediately, warm slightly in your hands.
Developed over four years in Japan, Nama Jokki represents Asahi’s commitment to reimagining the way people enjoy beer – and making every sip an experience. While the can uses a patented “double-safe” design, consumers should avoid pulling the lid with force.
Nama Jokki (5.2% ABV) is available now from selected liquor stores and will be available in most supermarkets from October 2025 (RRP $18–20 for a 6-pack).
