Filler & Seamer Specialist

Filler & Seamer Specialist

Step into a key SME role owning critical filling and seaming assets, driving reliability, safety, and performance in a high-speed manufacturing environment. You’ll lead technical improvements, support NPD, and coach teams to lift equipment uptime and standards.

Your Impact

Take ownership of critical filling and can seaming assets as our Filler & Seamer Specialist (SME) at our Tullamarine site and play a key role in lifting equipment reliability, safety, and performance. In this strategic, hands-on technical role, you’ll drive improvements across maintenance plans, SOPs, work instructions, and spare parts strategies—while ensuring equipment and systems meet Australian standards.

You’ll be the go-to technical expert for your machine group, supporting high-speed production across can and glass bottle lines, leading New Product Development (NPD) readiness, and coaching operators and trades to build stronger, more capable teams on the floor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and improve reliability and availability of filler and seamer equipment in a high-speed FMCG environment
  • Review and optimise maintenance plans, schedules, SOPs and work instructions
  • Drive safety and compliance, including LOTO, risk assessments, and alignment to Australian and global standards
  • Act as the technical escalation point for complex breakdowns and chronic issues (RCA, 5-Why, PDCA)
  • Lead technical readiness for NPD and related projects on assigned machine groups
  • Improve spare parts strategies and support long-term and shutdown planning
  • Coach and develop operators and trades to lift technical capability and equipment ownership
  • Support autonomous operations and standardisation across filling and seaming assets
  • Conduct machine area audits and drive continuous improvement initiatives

About You

This is an exciting role for a technically strong and solutions-focused professional who thrives in fast-paced FMCG environments and enjoys being close to the action on the factory floor. You’re passionate about driving reliability, safety, and standards, and you enjoy coaching and lifting capability in frontline teams. You also bring:

  • A trade or tertiary qualification in an engineering discipline
  • 5+ years’ experience with high-speed filling and seaming equipment and maintenance, ideally within FMCG manufacturing
  • Proven ability to lead problem-solving efforts and drive reliability and performance improvements
  • Experience developing and improving maintenance strategies, SOPs, and work instructions
  • Strong SAP skills, particularly within the maintenance module (highly regarded)
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to coach and influence operators and trades
  • A proactive, self-starting attitude with a drive to take ownership and lead improvements
