Reliability Engineer - Packaging

 

Your Impact

We’re seeking an experienced Reliability Engineer to lead performance and reliability outcomes across our filling equipment block, including fillers, rinsers, crowners and seamers within our packaging operation at Yatala.

This role plays a critical part in improving asset performance, maintenance effectiveness and equipment availability through data-driven analysis, structured problem-solving and strong cross-functional collaboration. Working closely with Machine Specialists, Planners, Supervisors and Line Managers, you will drive continuous improvement initiatives that deliver sustainable results across high-speed packaging lines.

You’ll operate as a senior technical contributor, influencing standards, strategies and ways of working while helping build capability across the broader team.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Own and drive reliability and performance improvement for the filling equipment block (fillers, rinsers, crowners and seamers)
• Analyse equipment performance, downtime and maintenance data to identify trends, risks and improvement opportunities
• Develop and implement reliability strategies using structured methodologies such as RCA, RCM and continuous improvement frameworks
• Improve maintenance strategies, standards and work practices in partnership with planning and operations teams
• Lead technical and specialist forums, influencing outcomes and aligning stakeholders on improvement priorities
• Coach and support Machine Specialists and operational teams when changes to processes, standards or equipment strategies are introduced
• Partner with engineering, maintenance and operations to embed sustainable performance improvements
• Contribute to longer-term asset performance and lifecycle strategies

 

About You

You’re a technically strong, commercially minded engineer who thrives in complex manufacturing environments and enjoys turning data and insight into measurable performance improvements. You’re comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy, taking ownership of outcomes and shaping the path to get there.

You’ll bring:

• 3–5+ years’ experience in a reliability, asset performance or maintenance improvement role within FMCG or manufacturing
• Experience with high-speed packaging equipment, ideally including fillers, rinsers, crowners and seamers
• Strong capability in structured problem-solving and continuous improvement (e.g. RCA, RCM, Lean methodologies)
• A proactive, self-directed working style - able to take high-level objectives and translate them into clear, practical improvement plans
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence technical and operational outcomes
• An engineering degree or trade qualification highly desired
• SAP maintenance module experience is advantageous
